During this breakout session, Kristen will offer a firsthand account of the experience of singlehandedly organizing a social movement, her reasons for leading millions of American consumers toward financial cooperatives, and how credit unions can utilize the concepts behind Bank Transfer Day to maintain the momentum for consumers to recognize credit unions as a valid financial alternative to for-profit banks.

About the Speaker
Kristen Christian is the founder of the Bank Transfer Day movement, a consumer initiative advocating that individuals shift banking business from corporate banks to not-for-profit credit unions. With a perspective based in activism, she was raised with an understanding that cooperation and respect are crucial for communities to thrive. From serving their members to serving the communities they are a part of, credit unions follow a similar path. Social media offered the opportunity for a global platform, which has resulted in one of the largest consumer migrations in history.
